Ik heb wel de eerste 50 minuten 2x gezien direct achter elkaar en filmisch is deze film gewoon top. Eerste film die ik zie van Melville, lijkt me een regisseur dat me kan liggen. Le Samourai is developed like a chess game between two equally-intelligent, determined opponents.

2019-11-02 · Le Samourai, directed by Jean-Pierre Mellville, is one of the most influential films in movie history. I immediately recognized the similarities in one of my other favorite films, Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai (1999) directed by Jim Jarmusch, also about a hired killer working for the mob who lived by the strict code of the Samurai.

In a taut and lean 100 minutes Jean-Pierre Melville somehow manages to condense and distill 30 plus years of gangster movies, police procedurals, and film noir into an astonishing existential tenor with Le Samouraï. Le Samouraï.

LE SAMOURAI. 2:40 7:00. Friday, April 28. Directed by Jean–Pierre Melville. Starring Alain Delon.

Melville’s direction befits a classic noir with his slick and patient style. Le Samourai is like The Conversation meets The French Connection with a bit of John Wick on the side. LE SAMOURAI is a major work from a highly influential director -- Walter Hill and John Woo have both taken a lesson or two -- yet one whose films have been, until now, inexplicably neglected in On the gangster level, as Tom Milne has evocatively described the film, Le Samourai is "redolent of night, of gleaming city streets, of fast cars and guns weighed down by silencers as the lone wolf killer lopes steadily and disdainfully through a battery of police line-ups and interrogations, of encounters with syndicate hoods on lonely railway One of the pleasures of "Le Samourai" is to realize how complicated the plot has grown, in its flat, deadpan way. With little dialogue and spare scenes of pure action (most of it unsensational), the movie devises a situation in which Jef is being sought all over Paris by both the police and the underworld, while he simultaneously puts his own plan into effect, and deals with both women.
